This time their focus was mostly on internet casinos with 11 offshore gambling sites sent cease and desist orders.
The MGCB has thus far sent out a few dozen cease and desist orders to real money and sweepstakes online casinos as well as sportsbooks dating back nearly two years now.
Among the recent targets: Shazam Casino, Highway Casino, SlotsRoom, Ruby Slots Casino, Las Atlantis Casino, Bet Big Dollar Casino, BloodMoon Casino, Spinfinity, Jumba Bet Casino, Grand Eagle Casino, and DogsFortune. Each is said to be accepting customers from the state of Michigan against state law. Michigan, we would note, is one of only a handful of states that regulate online casinos in addition to sportsbooks.
DogsFortune does offer sports betting while most of the other named sites tended to be real money online casinos as opposed to sweepstakes casinos, many of which have already fled the state.
“The Michigan Gaming Control Board remains fully committed to ensuring a fair, safe, and lawful gaming environment for all Michigan residents,” said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams. “Our actions today underscore our unwavering dedication to holding illegal operators accountable. Shutting down these unlicensed platforms is critical not only to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s regulated gaming industry but also to protecting residents from predatory practices and unreliable gambling experiences.”
